In August 2026, 11,920 Ontario homes changed hands, and the middle one sold for $675,000. Half of all sales fell between $490,000 and $925,000 — the band that tells you how much the middle figure is really standing in for. Homes traded at about 97.1% of their asking price. Right now there are 69,670 homes for sale across the province — browse them on the HOMEH listings page.

The average Ontario sale price was $794,986. It sits above the median of $675,000 because a small number of very expensive sales pull an average upward, while the median simply reports the middle sale — which is why we lead with it.

Frequently asked questions

Is it a buyer's or seller's market in Ontario right now?
As of August 2026, Ontario is in a balanced market. That comes from the sales-to-new-listings ratio — 43.6% — which HOMEH calculates from completed sales and newly listed homes in our own MLS data.
What is the typical home price in Ontario?
The middle home sold in Ontario went for $675,000 in August 2026, down -2.9% compared with a year earlier. We report the median — the middle sale — rather than the average, because a handful of very expensive sales pulls an average away from what most people actually pay.
Where do these numbers come from?
HOMEH is a licensed Ontario brokerage, and these figures are calculated from the MLS® data feed we licence — our own analysis of completed sales, not a real estate board’s published release. Any month with too few sales to report a reliable middle price is left out rather than estimated.
Where can I see current listings and what I could save?
Browse live listings on the HOMEH listings page, and check what you could receive on the HOMEH Cashback Rebate page — eligible buyers can receive the industry's highest Cashback Rebate, and sellers list for a 1% fee.
